Ingredients

  • 0.50 oz dried Zobo leaves
  • 1/8 cup pineapple chunks
  • 1/8 orange, cut into segments
  • 1-2 cloves or a pinch of ground cloves (kanafuru)
  • Ginger (approximately 1/2 teaspoon, finely chopped)
  • Sugar, to taste
  • Ice, for serving

Instructions

  1. Rinse the dried Zobo leaves to remove any dirt or impurities.
  2. In a pot, combine the Zobo leaves, pineapple, orange, ginger, and cloves. Bring the mixture to a boil and simmer for 15 minutes.
  3. If desired, add sugar or sweetener while the mixture is still hot and stir until dissolved.
  4. Allow the Zobo mixture to steep for 2-4 hours, depending on your preference.
  5. Strain the liquid through a fine sieve to remove any sediment.
  6. Let the Zobo drink cool, then serve chilled over ice. Optionally, garnish with a slice of lemon or lime.
