Ingredients

  • 1 oz sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 oz cream of coconut
  • 1 oz unsweetened coconut milk
  • 1 oz evaporated milk
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1/4 vanilla bean, split and scraped or 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 small cinnamon sticks
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
  • 1 1/2 oz rum

Instructions

  1. Combine sweetened condensed milk, cream of coconut, coconut milk, evaporated milk, a pinch of salt, and cinnamon sticks in a saucepan.
  2. Heat the mixture over medium-low heat until just starting to simmer, then remove from heat and let it steep for 30-45 minutes.
  3. Remove the cinnamon stick and vanilla bean, then stir in the rum to your preference.
  4. Pour the coquito into a pitcher, chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, and serve chilled neat or over ice.
