Ingredients
- 2-3 black tea bags
- 1/4 cup lemon juice (1-2 lemons)
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 1/2 cups water, divided
- lemon wedge, optional for garnish
Instructions
- Place 2-3 tea bags in a heat-safe pitcher or bowl.
- Boil 1 1/2 cups of water and pour it over the tea bags. Let the tea steep for 5 minutes.
- Remove the tea bags and let the tea cool.
- Juice the lemons if not already done, then add the lemon juice to the cooling tea.
- In a small saucepan, combine the sugar and 1/2 cup of water. Heat gently until the sugar dissolves, stirring occasionally.
- Once the sugar has dissolved, you have simple syrup. Add it to the tea and lemon mixture. Adjust sweetness as desired.
- Add the remaining 1/2 cup of water to the mixture. Taste and adjust sweetness or tartness. Add more water or make additional simple syrup if necessary.
- Refrigerate the mixture until completely cool.
- Serve in a glass over ice, and garnish with a lemon wedge if desired.
