Ingredients
- 2 oz rye whiskey
- 1 sugar cube
- Absinthe (for coating the glass)
- 3 dashes Peychaud's bitters
- 2 dashes Angostura bitters
- 1 lemon peel (for garnish)
Instructions
- Coat the inside of an old-fashioned glass by swirling absinthe inside and then pouring out any excess.
- In a mixing glass, combine the sugar cube, Peychaud's bitters, and Angostura bitters. Gently muddle the sugar to absorb the bitters.
- Add the rye whiskey and a handful of ice cubes to the mixing glass, then stir gently for about 30 seconds.
- Strain the mixture from the mixing glass into the prepared old-fashioned glass.
- Garnish by twisting a lemon peel over the drink and dropping it into the glass.
