Ingredients

  • 1 medium jalapeño, cut lengthwise, seeds removed
  • 1 3/4 cups silver tequila
  • 1 1/2 oz. jalapeño tequila
  • 1 oz. triple sec or orange liqueur
  • 1 1/2 oz. lime juice
  • 1/2 oz. agave or simple syrup (optional)
  • Lime and jalapeño slices, for garnish

Instructions

  1. To make the jalapeño tequila, place the jalapeño halves and tequila in a pint-sized glass jar.
  2. Cover and let it sit at room temperature for 24 hours.
  3. After 24 hours, remove the jalapeño and any escaped seeds from the tequila.
  4. In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, combine the jalapeño tequila, triple sec, lime juice, and agave syrup.
  5. Shake for 20 to 30 seconds to chill well.
  6. Strain the mixture into a margarita glass or rocks glass filled with ice.
  7. Garnish with slices of lime and jalapeño.
