Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup cranberry cocktail
  • 1/2 cup cane sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 inch fresh ginger, peeled and minced
  • 1/4 cup frozen or fresh cranberries
  • 1 1/2 oz silver tequila
  • 1 oz Cointreau
  • 1 1/2 oz cranberry cocktail
  • 3/4 oz lemon juice
  • 1/2 oz orange juice
  • 1/2 oz Spiced Cranberry Syrup
  • Ice
  • Cinnamon stick
  • Frozen cranberries

Instructions

  1. To make the syrup, combine cranberry cocktail, cane sugar, ground cinnamon, fresh ginger, and cranberries in a small saucepan. Heat over medium heat, stirring often, until the sugar dissolves and the cranberries pop.
  2. Remove the syrup from the heat, strain it through a fine mesh strainer, and press on the cranberries to extract their juice. Let the syrup cool before refrigerating for up to 2 weeks.
  3. In a cocktail shaker, combine tequila, Cointreau, cranberry cocktail, lemon juice, orange juice, and cranberry syrup. Add plenty of ice, then shake vigorously until the outside of the shaker feels very cold.
  4. Strain the spiced cranberry orange margarita mix into a glass filled with ice. Garnish with a cinnamon stick and a few frozen cranberries.
