Ingredients
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1/3 cup whole milk
- 2 tablespoons heavy cream
- 1/4 teaspoon fresh nutmeg
- 1 egg white
- 1/2 oz bourbon (optional)
Instructions
- Separate the egg yolk and white.
- Whisk the egg yolk with sugar until light in color.
- In a saucepan, heat the milk, cream, and nutmeg until just below boiling.
- Slowly drizzle a cup of the hot milk mixture into the egg yolk, whisking continuously.
- Pour the egg yolk mixture back into the saucepan and heat to 160 degrees.
- Add bourbon if desired, then refrigerate the mixture until chilled.
- Whisk the egg white until stiff peaks form, then fold it into the chilled yolk mixture.
- Serve the eggnog chilled, garnished with a sprinkle of cinnamon.
