Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup stout
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • Pinch of kosher salt
  • 1 1/2 cups whole milk
  • 2 ounces chopped dark chocolate
  • 2 tablespoons Irish cream liqueur
  • 2 tablespoons Irish whiskey

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, cook the stout over medium-high heat until it reduces to about 2 tablespoons, creating a syrupy consistency, for approximately 10 minutes. Set the syrup aside.
  2. In a separate medium saucepan, combine the cocoa powder, sugar, and salt. Whisk in the milk and chopped chocolate, then heat over medium heat, ensuring the chocolate is fully incorporated.
  3. Add the Irish cream, the reserved stout syrup, and the whiskey to the mixture. Stir to combine.
  4. When ready to serve, froth the hot cocoa using a hand blender, milk frother, or a whisk until frothy. Serve hot and enjoy!
