Ingredients

  • 1 apple
  • 1 cardamom pod
  • 1 stick cinnamon
  • 1 star anise
  • 6 oz. pale ale
  • 2 tbsp. honey
  • 1 oz. dark rum

Instructions

  1. Peel, core, and quarter the apple.
  2. Tie up the cardamom, cinnamon, and star anise in a piece of cheesecloth.
  3. Place the apple and wrapped spices in a pot and add the pale ale and honey.
  4. Simmer on medium-low heat for about 20 minutes; then remove from heat.
  5. To serve, pour 1 ounce of dark rum into a mug, then top with the ale mixture.
