Ingredients
- 1 large egg
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- Pinch of salt
- 1/4 cup heavy whipping cream
- 1/4 cup whole milk
- 2 tablespoons rum
- Pinch of ground nutmeg (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Separate the egg white and yolk into two bowls.
- In the bowl with the egg yolks, whisk together the sugar and salt until smooth and pale yellow.
- Add the heavy whipping cream, whole milk, and rum to the egg yolk mixture, and whisk until well combined.
- Cover the bowl with the eggnog mixture and refrigerate for at least one hour.
- In a separate bowl, whip the chilled egg whites until stiff peaks form.
- Gently fold the whipped egg whites into the chilled eggnog until creamy.
- Serve the eggnog immediately, sprinkled with a pinch of nutmeg on top.
