Ingredients

  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1/4 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1/4 cup whole milk
  • 2 tablespoons rum
  • Pinch of ground nutmeg (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Separate the egg white and yolk into two bowls.
  2. In the bowl with the egg yolks, whisk together the sugar and salt until smooth and pale yellow.
  3. Add the heavy whipping cream, whole milk, and rum to the egg yolk mixture, and whisk until well combined.
  4. Cover the bowl with the eggnog mixture and refrigerate for at least one hour.
  5. In a separate bowl, whip the chilled egg whites until stiff peaks form.
  6. Gently fold the whipped egg whites into the chilled eggnog until creamy.
  7. Serve the eggnog immediately, sprinkled with a pinch of nutmeg on top.
