Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons dried hibiscus flowers
  • 1 cup hot water
  • 1-2 tablespoons cardamon syrup (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 teaspoon lightly crushed green cardamon pods

Instructions

  1. For the syrup: In a saucepan, bring the sugar, water, and cardamon pods to a boil, then reduce to a simmer and cook for 10 minutes. Allow the mixture to steep for 30 minutes, then strain and refrigerate.
  2. For the hibiscus cooler: In a large pitcher, steep the hibiscus flowers in hot water for 15 minutes, then strain and refrigerate until cold. Stir in 1-2 tablespoons of cardamon syrup, adjusting to your desired level of sweetness.
