Ingredients

  • 2 oz Cynar
  • 1/2 oz chocolate syrup
  • 1 large egg
  • Fee Brothers whiskey barrel-aged bitters
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan over medium-low heat, stir together sugar and water until sugar is dissolved.
  2. Remove from heat and stir in the cocoa powder until completely dissolved.
  3. Allow the mixture to cool and then refrigerate it until ready to use.
  4. Add a whole egg to the bottom of a shaker and break apart the yolk and whites using a barspoon or fork.
  5. Pour in the chocolate syrup and Cynar.
  6. Fill the shaker with ice and shake vigorously for 10 seconds.
  7. Double strain the mixture into a chilled coupe glass.
  8. Top the cocktail with whiskey barrel-aged bitters and serve!
