Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 1/4 cup Dutch-process cocoa powder
  • 0.50 oz 60% dark chocolate, chopped
  • 0.12 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.12 cup light brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1.50 oz vodka (vanilla vodka preferred)
  • 1.50 oz dark creme de cocoa
  • 1.50 oz half and half

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, combine water, cocoa powder, chopped chocolate, granulated sugar, and brown sugar. Bring to a boil.
  2. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract. Strain through a fine mesh strainer and let it cool. This can be stored in the fridge for up to a week.
  3. When ready to serve, fill a cocktail shaker with ice and pour in the vodka, creme de cocoa, half and half, and 2 ounces of the chocolate syrup.
  4. Shake vigorously, then strain into a cocktail glass.
  5. Garnish with shaved chocolate curls and a mint sprig, and enjoy!
