Ingredients

  • 6 oz whole cranberries (fresh or frozen)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 tbsp lime juice
  • 3/8 cup orange juice
  • 2 tbsp cranberry syrup
  • 1 1/2 oz tequila
  • 1/2 oz lime juice
  • 1/2 oz orange liqueur
  • ice
  • granulated or sanding sugar to rim the glass

Instructions

  1. To make the cranberry syrup: Combine cranberries, sugar, lime juice, and orange juice in a saucepan. Boil over high heat, then simmer for about 10 minutes until cranberries burst. Let it cool for 5 minutes, then puree and strain the syrup. Refrigerate until cool.
  2. Prepare the cocktail glass by rimming it with sugar. Fill the glass halfway with ice.
  3. In a cocktail shaker, combine cranberry syrup, tequila, lime juice, and orange liqueur. Fill the shaker with ice and shake vigorously.
  4. Strain and pour the cocktail into the prepared glass.
