Ingredients
- 1 large egg yolk
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar, divided
- 1 cup whole milk
- 2 tbsp heavy cream
- 1/8 tsp cinnamon
- pinch each of allspice and cloves
- 2 tbsp bourbon
- whipped cream (for topping)
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the egg yolk and 1 tablespoon of sugar until light.
- In a large saucepan, heat the milk, cream, 1 tablespoon of sugar, and the spices over medium heat until steaming, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat.
- While continuously whisking the egg yolk mixture, slowly add a small amount of the steaming milk. Gradually incorporate the milk into the eggs, then pour the egg mixture back into the saucepan while whisking constantly.
- Stir in the bourbon and cook over low heat until the eggnog is hot and thick, approximately 5 minutes, whisking continuously.
- Pour a small amount of the eggnog into a glass, top with whipped cream, and sprinkle with a dash of cinnamon.
