Ingredients

  • Zest of 1 clementine
  • 1/2 inch cinnamon stick
  • 1 star anise
  • 1/2 vanilla pod, split in half lengthwise
  • 2 oz vodka
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1/2 oz clemencello
  • 1/2 oz fresh orange juice
  • 1 egg white
  • Clementine peel twist, for garnish
  • Star anise, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Place the clementine zest, cinnamon stick, star anise, and vanilla pod in a sealable jar. Add the vodka, seal the jar, and allow it to infuse for 5 days, shaking it daily.
  2. In a pan, boil water with sugar until dissolved, then let it cool to room temperature. Pour the sugar mixture into the jar with the infused vodka and reseal. Allow it to sit for 9 days, then strain the clemencello into a sealable bottle.
  3. To prepare a spiced clemencello sour, combine the clemencello, orange juice, and egg white in a cocktail shaker. Shake vigorously, add ice, and shake again until the shaker becomes very cold.
  4. Strain the mixture into a glass and garnish with a clementine peel twist and star anise for a festive touch.
