Ingredients

  • 6 ounces Cherries
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 ounces dark rum
  • 6 ounces cold coca-cola
  • 1/4 cup chopped, pitted cherries

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, combine the cherries, water, and sugar over medium-low heat.
  2. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook for about 5 minutes until the sugar dissolves and the liquid thickens.
  3. Transfer the cherry simple syrup to a blender and blend until smooth.
  4. Strain the syrup if desired, then pour it into a jar and let it cool.
  5. Fill a tall glass with ice and add some of the chopped cherries and 2 tablespoons of cherry syrup.
  6. Add the dark rum to the glass.
  7. Top off with cold coca-cola.
  8. Stir gently to mix the ingredients.
  9. Serve immediately and enjoy!
