Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup pitted tart cherries
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 2 oz silver tequila
  • 3 oz margarita mix
  • Salt, lime wedge, and cherries for garnish
  • Ice

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, combine the tart cherries, sugar, and water. Simmer for 20 minutes, then remove from heat.
  2. Transfer the mixture to a food processor and blend until smooth. Strain the puree through a fine mesh strainer into a bowl, pressing the cherries to extract the liquid.
  3. Allow the cherry syrup to cool for about 45 minutes before using.
  4. Rim an 8 oz glass with lime and dip into salt. Add ice to the glass.
  5. Pour 2 oz tequila, 1 1/2 tablespoons of cherry syrup, and 3 oz margarita mix into the glass. Stir to combine.
  6. Garnish with a lime wedge and tart cherries.
