Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup cherries
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 oz dark rum
  • 6 oz cold coca-cola
  • 1/4 cup chopped, pitted cherries

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, combine cherries, water, and sugar over medium-low heat and bring to a simmer.
  2. Simmer for about 5 minutes until the sugar dissolves and the liquid thickens.
  3. Pour the cherry simple syrup into a blender and puree on high.
  4. Strain the syrup into a jar and let it cool.
  5. Fill a tall glass with ice and add chopped cherries, 2 tablespoons of cherry syrup, and rum.
  6. Top off with cold coca-cola.
  7. Serve immediately!
