Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon celery salt (or plain kosher salt)
  • 1/4 lemon, cut into two wedges
  • 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • Dash cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon hot sauce (such as Franks)
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly grated horseradish (or 1 teaspoon prepared horseradish)
  • 2 ounces vodka
  • 4 ounces high-quality tomato juice
  • 1 stick celery

Instructions

  1. In a shallow saucer, place celery salt. Rub the rim of a 12-ounce tumbler with one lemon wedge and coat the wet edge with celery salt.
  2. Place the lemon wedge on the rim of the glass and fill the glass with ice.
  3. Add Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, black pepper, cayenne pepper, hot sauce, and horseradish to the bottom of a cocktail shaker.
  4. Fill the shaker with ice and add vodka, tomato juice, and the juice of the remaining lemon wedge.
  5. Shake vigorously, taste for seasoning and heat, and adjust as necessary.
  6. Strain the mixture into the ice-filled glass and garnish with a celery stalk.
