Ingredients

  • 1.50 oz white/silver rum
  • 1/4 oz lemon juice
  • 1/2 oz pineapple juice
  • 1/2 cup blackberries
  • 1 oz water
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • Crushed ice
  • Blackberries and mint for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a small pan, combine blackberries, water, and sugar, and bring to a boil over medium heat.
  2. Boil for about 10 minutes until the blackberries are softened and can be easily mashed with the back of a spoon.
  3. Mash the blackberries and remove from heat, then strain the liquid from the blackberry remnants and set aside to cool.
  4. Fill a serving glass halfway with crushed ice.
  5. Pour in the rum, lemon juice, pineapple juice, and cooled blackberry syrup.
  6. Hold a swizzle stick or cocktail stirrer between your palms and rub your hands in opposite directions to "swizzle" the drink until the glass is frosted.
  7. Fill the serving glass to the top with more crushed ice and garnish with blackberries and mint before serving.
