Ingredients
- 1 1/2 oz apple brandy (or whiskey, bourbon, or cognac if apple brandy is unavailable)
- 1/2 oz freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 1/2 oz freshly squeezed orange juice
- 1 oz blackberry shrub
- Crushed ice
- Fresh mint for garnish
Instructions
- In a nonmetal bowl or pitcher, combine blackberries, apple cider vinegar, sugar, and salt. Cover and refrigerate for 1 to 2 days.
- Transfer the berry mixture to a nonreactive saucepan and simmer for about 10 minutes. Strain the cooked berry mixture through a fine-mesh sieve, discarding the solids.
- Store the blackberry shrub in the refrigerator for up to 6 weeks.
- In a cocktail shaker, combine the apple brandy, lemon juice, orange juice, and blackberry shrub with ice. Shake well.
- Strain the mixture over cocktail glasses filled with crushed ice.
