Ingredients

  • 1.25 oz fresh blackberries
  • 1 tbsp superfine sugar
  • 0.50 oz elderflower liqueur (such as St-Germain)
  • 0.50 oz blanco tequila
  • Ice
  • 5 oz pinot noir
  • 1 oz lemon-flavored soda or blackberry-flavored seltzer (optional)
  • Fresh blackberries, lemon wheel, and rosemary sprig for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a glass, muddle the blackberries with the superfine sugar until crushed and juicy.
  2. Add the elderflower liqueur and tequila, and stir until the sugar dissolves, creating a dark syrup.
  3. Fill a pitcher with ice and add the pinot noir.
  4. Strain the blackberry syrup into the pitcher using a fine-mesh strainer, or carefully pour all the blackberry mixture into the pitcher if you prefer to keep the crushed berries in your drink.
  5. Stir to combine.
  6. Top with the soda or seltzer, if desired.
  7. Garnish with fresh blackberries, a lemon wheel, and a sprig of rosemary, then serve.
