Ingredients

  • 1.25 oz fresh blackberries
  • 1.50 tbsp superfine sugar
  • 1 oz elderflower liqueur (such as St-Germain)
  • 1 oz blanco tequila
  • Ice
  • 5 oz pinot noir
  • 2 oz lemon-flavored soda or blackberry-flavored seltzer (optional)
  • Blackberries, lemon wheel, fresh rosemary sprig for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a mixing glass, muddle the fresh blackberries with superfine sugar until crushed and juicy.
  2. Add the elderflower liqueur and tequila, stirring until the sugar dissolves to create a dark syrup.
  3. Fill a pitcher about a quarter-full with ice and pour in the pinot noir.
  4. If desired, strain the blackberry syrup through a fine-mesh strainer into the pitcher, pressing gently on the leftover solids to extract as much liquid as possible, or simply pour the blackberry mixture into the pitcher.
  5. Top with soda or seltzer, if using. Stir to combine.
  6. Garnish each glass with blackberries, a lemon wheel, and a sprig of rosemary, then serve.
