Ingredients

  • 1 cup fresh apple cider
  • 1 tsp packed dark brown sugar
  • 1/3 whole nutmeg seed
  • 1/6 of a vanilla bean
  • 1 oz bourbon
  • whipped cream
  • Honeyed Walnuts

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, combine the apple cider, dark brown sugar, nutmeg seed, and vanilla bean.
  2. Gently simmer the mixture over medium-low heat for about 15 minutes.
  3. Remove the saucepan from the heat and add the bourbon if desired.
  4. Remove and discard the solids from the mixture.
  5. Pour the warm vanilla cider into a mug or heatproof glass.
  6. Top the drink with a dollop of whipped cream and a few honeyed walnuts.
