Ingredients

  • 1/4 tablespoon demerara sugar
  • 1 oz strong cold-brew coffee
  • 1 oz fernet (preferably Contratto)
  • 3/4 oz amaro (preferably Barolo Chinato)
  • 3/4 oz Compass Box Whisky Co. Orangerie or Grand Marnier
  • 1 orange twist (for serving)

Instructions

  1. In a jar, combine the demerara sugar and 1/4 tablespoon of hot water. Cover and shake until the sugar is fully dissolved. Chill the mixture until it's cold.
  2. In a cocktail shaker, combine the cold-brew coffee, fernet, amaro, Scotch, and demerara simple syrup.
  3. Fill the shaker with ice and shake vigorously for about 30 seconds, until the outside of the shaker is frosty.
  4. Strain the cocktail into a coupe glass.
  5. Garnish with an orange twist and serve.
