  • 2 fl oz 100% agave silver/blanco tequila
  • 1 tbsp kosher salt
  • 1 lime
  • 1/2 small Hamlin or Valencia orange
  • 2 tbsp light agave syrup
  • 3/4 cup (3 to 4) ice cubes

  1. Pour 1/2 fl oz of tequila into a small saucer.
  2. Spread kosher salt in a separate small saucer.
  3. Dip the rim of a wide-rimmed glass into the tequila, then into the salt to coat the rim. Set aside.
  4. Cut a thin slice from the lime for garnish and set aside.
  5. Juice the lime and orange into a measuring cup through a sieve to yield approximately 2 fl oz of juice.
  6. Pour the juice into a Boston-style cocktail shaker, add the agave, the remaining 1 1/2 fl oz of tequila, and any remaining tequila in the saucer.
  7. Add the ice to the shaker, cover, and shake for 30 seconds.
  8. Strain the mixture through a cocktail strainer into the prepared glass, garnish with the reserved lime slice, and serve immediately.
